Currently, syringe dispensing is being replaced by jet dispensing. The so-called jetting is a new technology that uses nozzles instead of syringes to solve many problems. The Jetting nozzle dispenses over the device that requires underfill without having to reach below its top surface. The Jetting nozzle moves in the x, y direction over the entire board without vertical movement.

Unlike dispensing syringes, nozzles do not form a continuous stream of underfill fluid, but instead produce more precisely 200 points of glue per second. As the level of the nozzle moves, the glue dots can form a variety of desired line patterns and patterns, such as solid lines, dashed lines, and the like, as well as various other different patterns. Each shot is precisely controlled, and the diameter of the glue dots formed by one shot is as small as 0.33 mm, which is very important for the application of the patch glue and the like where the area is precisely controlled.

The jetting technique is to spray the glue out of the nozzle at a very fast speed, relying on the momentum of the glue to get the glue out of the nozzle. A certain amount of glue is sprayed each time it is sprayed. The current common injection frequency is 100 Hz to 200 Hz, but will soon reach 1000hz. There are several differences between jet dispensing and needle dispensing. When the glue is ejected from the nozzle, the glue has been separated from the nozzle before contacting the substrate. Each dot is ejected onto the substrate to form dots, lines, and graphics. During the movement of the dispensing position, the dispensing head does not move in the Z-axis direction, which saves considerable time. When the needle is dispensed, the robot moves in the X, Y, and Z axes, and the glue flows out of the needle to contact the substrate, and the glue is separated from the needle by gravity and surface tension of the substrate. After each dispense is completed, there is a significant movement along the Z axis and then moved to the next dispensing position.

The LED market also benefits from glue dispensing technology. The glue spraying process can spray a wide range of optical materials including silicone, UV-cured phosphorus-doped conductive adhesive, and can perform position-accurate dispensing and glue control in high-speed dispensing. The accuracy of the glue can improve the yield of high value high power LED devices. Used in the production of white light, the dispensing of phosphor powder and mixed glue, the consistency is improved.
