Apple iPhone 5 no longer uses Samsung memory and screen

According to South Korea’s “Central Daily” report, Apple replaced most of Samsung’s parts in its new iPhone 5, which will be released on September 12.

The industry news that came out on September 6 reveals that, at the time of the upcoming iPhone 5 release, Apple has already produced new models for the major news agencies in the world, but Samsung did not receive related parts orders. Apple replaced the suppliers of Samsung NAND flash memory and D-ram storage chips with companies such as Hynix, Elpida and Toshiba. And replaced the LCD supplier with LG Display and Japan Display.

It is reported that Apple replaced the new model's battery supplier with China's ATL and Japan's Sanyo. According to related industry sources, "Samsung Electronics has been selected as a supplier of new model storage chips for Apple, but Samsung plans to supply the first shipments of millions or even 10 million iPhone 5 handsets. No orders were received. The same is true for Samsung SDI. Although it was selected as a cooperation company, it did not receive an order."

On the part of the "Application Processor (AP)", which is called the "Smart Machine Brain," Apple has always been an order to Samsung. At the beginning, Apple had attempted to place orders for Taiwan's TSMC to manufacture related parts and components. However, due to the unsatisfactory ratio of qualified products, it replaced the supplier with Samsung. Relevant parties in the electronics industry explained that “Apple is launching a patent war with Samsung in various countries and the relationship between the two companies has deteriorated. Therefore, since last year, Apple has continuously reduced orders for parts and components for Samsung Electronics, taking the opportunity of the new model iPhone5. , Apple is a big replacement for the original supplier of parts supplied by Samsung."

The industry believes that it is difficult for Apple to completely cut off the transaction with Samsung. At the beginning of this year, Apple tried to replace the "New iPad" panel supplier with Sharp and LG Display. However, due to the quality problems of the two companies' products, they suffered. The manager of the UK's IT special fund "Polly Capital" Van Logging predicted that "because the quality of parts directly affects the quality of the product, it is difficult for Apple to completely sever its cooperation with Samsung."

Previously, in the iPhone product, parts that accounted for about 40% of the total price of the product were provided by Samsung. In 2011, Apple purchased about 10 trillion won worth of semiconductor components from Samsung Electronics, which is equivalent to about 6% of sales of Samsung Electronics.
