As the LED industry shifts to the mainland, China has gradually become the main base of the global LED industry.

However, for Chinese LED companies, achieving the expansion of the global market is the "ultimate goal." Therefore, under the guidance of related strategies such as “One Belt and One Road”, Chinese enterprises have taken the opportunity to enter the overseas market, and Chinese LED products have quickly stepped out of China and headed for the world.

According to statistics from the "Monthly Monitoring Report on China's LED Lighting Products for 2017-2018" released by the High-tech Research Institute LED Research Institute (GGII), the total export value of China's LED lighting products in 2017 was approximately US$21.958 billion, up 38% year-on-year. About 16.86 billion, an increase of 23%.

According to the statistics of the High-tech Research Institute LED Research Institute (GGII), the total number of LED lighting products export enterprises in China in 2017 was about 22,000 (including trading companies and manufacturing companies). Among them, the top ten enterprises ranked a total export of 2.487 billion US dollars, accounting for 11% of the total exports.

The data shows that the status of China's first export destination for LED lighting products in 2017 has further strengthened, and its proportion has increased to 25.3%. The imports of LED lighting in Brazil and India increased by nearly 157% and 49% respectively, becoming the top ten export destinations for LED lighting in China. In addition, South America, the Middle East, Vietnam and other regions have become the fastest growing regions and countries for LED lighting exports.

Among the many exported LED lighting products, LED bulbs have the largest export volume, which is mainly due to the fact that bulbs can be used as direct replacements for incandescent lamps; LED panel lamps are increasingly popular commercial products. Exports are also rising year by year.

In addition, it is worth mentioning that the mining lamp. At this stage, with the increase of layout enterprises, the output of LED industrial and mining lamps has also reached a peak. However, the market penetration rate of LED is still growing rapidly. Therefore, there is still much room for improvement in the export volume of LED high bay light in China in the future.

LED bulb

According to statistics from the GGII's “Monthly Monitoring Report on China's LED Lighting Products for 2017-2018”, the total export volume of LED bulbs in China in 2017 was 3.375 billion US dollars, and the export volume was 3.047 billion.

The top ten companies ranked a total of about 1.48 billion US dollars in exports, accounting for 44% of the total export volume of bulbs. Rieter, Sunlight and Debon Lighting respectively occupy the top three.

LED bulbs are China's largest export products for lighting products, accounting for nearly 16% of all export categories in 2017. From the perspective of the top ten enterprises' export destinations, the US exports ranked first, up to 464 million US dollars, accounting for 31.34%; followed by the European market, with exports reaching 409 million US dollars, accounting for 27.64%.

LED panel light

According to statistics from the GGII's "Monthly Monitoring Report on China's LED Lighting Products for 2017-2018", the total export volume of LED panel lights in China was about 1.784 billion US dollars in 2017, and the export volume was about 345 million.

Among them, the top ten enterprises ranked a total export of 233 million US dollars, accounting for 13% of the total panel light exports.

The data shows that the export value of LED panel lights of China's top ten enterprises only accounts for 13% of the total exports, and the gap between the top ten enterprises' export exports is not obvious. In addition, the data shows that in 2017, the total number of Chinese LED panel light export enterprises reached 5,700. It can be explained that the LED panel light outlet concentration is poor.

LED downlight

According to statistics from the GGII's "Monthly Monitoring Report on China's LED Lighting Products for 2017-2018", the total export volume of LED downlights in China in 2017 was 894 million US dollars, and the export volume was 218 million.

Among them, the top ten enterprises ranked a total of about 191 million US dollars of exports, accounting for 21% of the total export volume of downlights. Rieter, civilian lighting and sunlight lighting occupy the top three.

What deserves our attention is that the total exports of the top ten enterprises account for only 21% of the total export volume of the downlights. This also shows that the export distribution of LED downlights is still relatively scattered. With the deep integration of the LED industry, the production and export of LED downlights are expected to be further concentrated in the future.

LED high bay light

According to the statistics of "Monthly Monitoring Report of China's LED Lighting Products for 2017-2018" released by GGII, the total export volume of LED industrial and mining lamps in China in 2017 was 319 million US dollars, an increase of 87% year-on-year, and the export volume was 5.26 million, an increase of 93%.

Among them, the top ten enterprises ranked a total of about 118 million US dollars of exports, accounting for 37% of the total export volume of mining lamps. Augst ranked first with $35.59 million, BHP Electronics ranked second with $33.59 million, and Huadian Lighting ranked third with $13.49 million.

Statistics show that the top ten enterprises' export destinations are mostly European and American countries. According to the high-tech LED statistics, the top ten enterprises' LED industrial and mining lamps exported to Europe and the United States amounted to US$760.78 million, accounting for 64.47% of their total exports. The high overlap of export destinations, as the number of participating companies increases, the competition in the LED high bay light market will become increasingly fierce.

In addition, from the perspective of China's 2017 LED lighting products export destination, the top exporters are the United States (25.34%), Germany (4.42%), the United Kingdom (4.26%), Hong Kong (3.76%), and Brazil (2.63%). ). Among them, the United States accounts for a quarter of the entire industry. In the global regional market, North America and Europe account for 56.18% of the entire lighting industry.

North America and Europe, as the export hubs of China's LED lighting products, have strict requirements for LED products. However, the requirements for regulatory requirements for LED light products in the two regions vary to varying degrees. How to comply with the regulatory requirements of the two places and market demand has always been the focus of Chinese manufacturers.

Moreover, for the relevant laws and regulations, the North American market has been constantly updated, and market access conditions have also increased. It is worth noting that DLC officially released the technical requirements for the solid-state lighting product standard V4.3 on March 26, 2018.

The DLC standard has been upgraded from V4.1 to V4.2 to V4.3, and has no direct impact on most of the products listed in DLC. At that time, the DLC submission must use the new version V4.3 submission form, and the old form V4.2 will not be accepted. The old form will result in an upload error (please read the "Solid State Lighting Product Standard DLCV4.3 Official Release" for details of the modification) .

For Chinese LED export companies, before exploring the international market, it is necessary to carefully study the requirements of the market for safety, performance and other aspects of the product, and then develop products that meet the requirements of the market. In recent years, the recall of Chinese LED products in the international market has emerged in an endless stream. A large part of the reason is that the products do not meet certain requirements of the market.

Also, what is worthy of attention by Chinese LED exporters is the Sino-US trade war and the “337 investigation” that are currently “noisy”.

First of all, talk about the Sino-US trade war. Although this time, the US list of tariff products for China has not yet been announced, it is not known whether the LED products are listed in the US tariff list for Chinese imports, but the Sino-US trade war will inevitably increase the exchange rate between the US dollar and the RMB. risk. Therefore, for Chinese exporters, it is necessary to carefully assess exchange rate risks.

In addition, it is the "337 investigation." In March, the US LED companies launched two "337 investigations" on Chinese companies, and many large companies that exported to the United States successively made moves. But whether it is infringement or not, this shows the inferior position of Chinese companies in international trade.

In international trade, Chinese companies have repeatedly suffered in this regard. What's more, the development of China's LED industry to this day has already made international companies show difficulties in survival. The use of patents to combat Chinese companies' tactics of becoming an international competitor.

Therefore, for Chinese companies, to reverse the disadvantages in international trade, we must first strengthen ourselves. In the international market, Chinese companies have been repeatedly targeted by international competitors, mainly because they lack innovation spirit, and the prevalence of racism, plagiarism, and ignoring intellectual property rights have been widely criticized. For Chinese LED companies, it is necessary to reduce the root cause, and even put an end to others to avoid unnecessary disputes.

Second, in the face of patent disputes, Chinese companies need to respond positively and become passive. In the international trade market, companies are prosecuted, and it is not all bad to eat lawsuits. As long as they are properly handled, litigation can also become an alternative propaganda for enterprises, and the expansion of the influence of corporate brands will inevitably play a certain role.

It must be said that although the international market environment faced by Chinese companies is far more complicated than the domestic market, as the main force of the global lighting market, Chinese companies need to do their homework before going to the sea, from technology, patents, product quality and brand. In terms of aspects, we will establish a trade protection network to prevent international competitors from “watering and raising fish”.
