AUO Develops Transparent 13-inch OLED for AR
AUO has unveiled a 13-inch transparent OLED display with a resolution of 100 PPI, specifically designed for augmented reality (AR) applications. This innovative display achieves a remarkable transparency level of up to 68%, making it ideal for AR headsets and smart glasses where seeing the real world while displaying digital content is essential.

To achieve such high transparency, AUO optimized several key components, including the TFT array layer stack, the OLED cathode pattern, and the packaging design. These improvements allowed the display to maintain both visual clarity and performance while remaining largely see-through. This marks the first time since 2011 that AUO has developed a fully functional transparent OLED display, showcasing their continued innovation in the field of flexible and transparent display technologies.
With this new development, AUO is positioning itself as a leader in next-generation display solutions, especially for emerging AR and wearable technology markets. The 13-inch model represents a significant step forward in making transparent displays more practical and widely applicable in real-world scenarios.
