The full name of LTE CAT is LTE UE-category, which is broken down to explain :LTE refers to 4G LTE network, UE refers to user equipment, and Category is translated as level. Smooth interpretation is the level of 4G LTE network transmission rate that user devices can support, which can also be said to be a technical standard for 4G network speed. Therefore, LTE CAT4/CAT6 means that the user device LTE network access capability level is 4 or 6.
Since the level is different, then its capabilities are certainly not the same, let's take a look at LTE CAT4/CAT6 affect what performance, respectively, what level. Simply put, LTE CAT affects the upper limit of 4G LTE uplink and downlink network speed, which is generally referred to as the maximum upload and download speed that a user device can achieve.
There are not only 4 and 6 levels in LTE CAT, but the table above is our list of currently known LTE CAT levels and the corresponding maximum transmission speed. Among them, LTE CAT4/CAT6 is also the current network transmission technology level of 4G mobile phones, while the faster CAT7 and CAT8 are still in the laboratory stage and have not been commercially developed.
Phones and chips that support LTE CAT4/CAT6
As far as the current 4G mobile phone market is concerned, most mobile phone products are CAT4 technology, and only a small number of new mobile phones use CAT6 technology, such as Huawei Honor 6, Samsung Galaxy S5 advanced version and LG G3 Cat6, and the concept of LTE CAT6 is proposed by Huawei Honor 6.
For the mobile phone LTE CAT4/CAT6 standard, it is directly linked to the mobile phone chip, or, if you know the processor of the mobile phone, you know which technology the mobile phone uses. For the current 4G mobile phone chips, only Huawei Kirin 920 and Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processors for LTE CAT6, before this 4G chips are LTE CAT4, the future and Kirin 930, Qualcomm Snapdragon 808/810 will support LTE CAT6. Mediatek won't have LTE CAT6 chips until the second half of next year.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 805, 808, and 810 also support LTE CAT6
It is worth mentioning here that Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 and Kirin 920 are not the same in chip design, the LTE CAT6 baseband of Snapdragon 805 is an external Gobi MDM9x35, while Kirin 920 is a direct SoC integration, and the chip is integrated, this point Kirin 920 has ultra-high integration. It has certain advantages in power consumption and cost. As a leading international communications company, Huawei's strength can not be underestimated, but also the pride of our people.
The actual use value of LTE CAT6
Upload, download speed is our use of mobile Internet access the most concerned performance, but it should be clear that the LTECAT standard is the 4G transmission speed limit, and can not improve the transmission speed, in the operator's 4G network speed has not reached the next standard, simply raising the limit is meaningless. At present, the 4G networks of domestic operators are all LTE CAT4 standards, and the peak download speed is 150Mbps, but it is difficult to reach the upper limit of LTE CAT4 in practical applications, and even to reach 100Mbps is very difficult, so at this stage LTE CAT6 has no use value.
In terms of real life applications, LTE CAT6 is not as beautiful as we think. We can do a calculation, according to the formula 1MB/s=8Mbps, the maximum download speed of LTE CAT4 is 18.75MB/s, such a download speed, for 1080P video online playback has no pressure, even 4K online film source still can not occupy such a large bandwidth, So LTE CAT6 has no use either.
To sum up, LTE CAT6 does not have much use value at this stage, and the term is only a gimmick of manufacturers, until the operator 4G standard reaches LTE CAT6, I believe that LTE CAT6 equipment has long been popular. So as for whether the phone is LTE CAT4 or LTE CAT6, you don't have to care.
The television in my home has been in use for 9 years. I haven’t had any major issues, except that the power switch isn’t very sensitive. The colors aren’t as vibrant as other TVs, but the response is quite good. There’s no built-in set-top box, but I already have a Mi Box, so watching TV is still very convenient. However, my wife and I don’t often watch it together. She prefers family dramas, while I like movies and American series. Her main point is that I don’t watch TV much and she wants to buy a new one.
I decided to buy a TV for the bedroom. Since the room isn't very big, a 32-inch screen should be sufficient. I looked at several brands like Sharp, Konka, Skyworth, TCL, Philips, Samsung, and Changhong. Domestic brands are more affordable, while Japanese and Korean brands tend to be pricier. Most TVs are over 40 inches, and even though some brands offer 32-inch models, the selection isn’t great. Many of them are OEMs, like Philips, which are just rebranded products. I didn’t want to pay extra for that. Since my old Sony TV is still working fine, I chose to go with Sony again.
I ended up purchasing the Sony KDL-32W600D, which costs around 1899 yuan on Jingdong and 1700 yuan on Taobao. Shipping via SF Express was 25 yuan, and adding an invoice cost 50 yuan, bringing the total to 1775 yuan. As a loyal user of Taobao, I saved points and ordered from there. I asked the seller to ship via SF and confirmed that returns were possible if anything went wrong.
The TV arrived the next day after being shipped the same day. I was told by the delivery person that many online TVs arrive around 3 PM. The box was large, and I hoped the delivery would be gentle.
I placed a link from a third-party seller on Jingdong, but the price was higher than what I paid, so I felt like I had saved money.
The back of the TV shows the model number and includes an invoice. The mounting bracket has two screw holes, and I plan to place it on a shelf rather than hanging it. The back also has various interfaces, including HDMI, USB, audio ports, and a cable connection. The HDMI port is standard, but it's not very conveniently placed.
On the side, there are two USB ports, an HDMI port, and an audio port for connecting speakers. At the bottom, there’s a port for cable TV, network cables, AV cables, and the power supply.
The TV has a simple setup guide, and I considered contacting Sony customer service for assistance. They can help with installation, but it's only free for the first time. The instruction manual, maintenance details, software licenses, and warranty information are all included.
The front of the TV has a clean design, and the remote control is easy to use. The TV supports playing videos, music, and pictures from a USB drive or external hard disk, which is one of my most used features. I tested the screen mirroring function, but my phone doesn’t support it. The enhanced media playback feature works well, allowing me to play movies and images from a U-disk.
The TV has a built-in Internet TV service, but the available content is limited. New movies require payment, and some TV shows update slowly. I encountered an issue where the Internet TV wouldn’t turn on, but restoring factory settings fixed it.
Overall, the TV is reliable and performs well. It’s clear and smooth, and it supports most video formats. While it doesn’t support 4K, it handles 2K well. It’s suitable for the bedroom, and the interface is straightforward. The only downsides are the limited Internet TV content and the lack of 4K support.
**Advantages:**
1. Clear screen with decent image quality.
2. Simple and intuitive operation.
3. Supports a wide range of video formats.
4. Integrated Internet TV with a set-top box function.
**Disadvantages:**
1. Limited Internet TV content and a cumbersome interface.
2. No 4K support.
3. Sony hasn’t updated the system in a long time.
4. Slightly expensive compared to other options.
I’ve been using this TV for a long time and am generally satisfied. It meets my needs for watching movies, TV shows, and even gaming on PS4. Overall, it's a solid choice for a budget-friendly, functional TV.
