A crystal oscillator, often referred to as a crystal clock, is the core component that keeps electronic systems running smoothly. Much like the heart in a human body, it provides the essential rhythm and stability needed for all operations. Its importance cannot be overstated, as it ensures accurate timing and synchronization across various devices. Imperial Technology is a leading manufacturer of quartz crystal oscillators in China, known for its large-scale production and high-quality standards. In its early years, the company provided professional OEM services to national defense enterprises, supplying a wide range of crystal products including 49/S, 49/U, 49/SSMD, 6035mm, 5032mm, and 3225mm cylindrical crystal oscillators. These components are widely used in military and industrial applications where precision and reliability are critical. All products from Imperial Technology are environmentally friendly and meet EU compliance standards. The product line includes quartz crystal resonators, surface mount crystal oscillators, cylindrical crystal oscillators, and more. The primary function of a crystal in an electronic system is to generate a stable reference clock signal. This signal is crucial for synchronizing different parts of a system. In communication systems, separate crystals may be used for baseband and RF frequencies, with the frequency adjusted electronically to maintain synchronization. Imperial Technology introduces the crystal oscillator circuit technology, which typically uses a three-terminal capacitor (Cobalt) AC equivalent oscillation circuit, as shown in Figure 1a. The actual AC equivalent circuit is illustrated in Figure 1b, where Cv is used to adjust the oscillation frequency. This is usually achieved by using varactor diodes with varying reverse bias voltages. This method allows for voltage-controlled frequency adjustment, but it also introduces nonlinearity due to the interaction between capacitors Cbe, Cce, and Cv connected in series, and Co connected in parallel with C1. As Cv increases, the effect on the overall tank capacitance decreases, resulting in a smaller frequency variation range. Conversely, when Cv decreases, the frequency increase becomes more significant. This nonlinearity becomes more pronounced with a larger voltage control range. Understanding this behavior is essential for designing stable and accurate oscillators. Additionally, as the feedback voltage on Cbe decreases, the oscillation may eventually stop. Through the schematic diagram of the crystal oscillator, you can gain a clearer understanding of how these components work together. Higher harmonic-order crystal oscillators have smaller equivalent capacitance C1, which limits their frequency variation range. Despite this, quartz crystals are known for their stability even under extreme conditions. Imperial Technology's products are designed to withstand heat, vibration, and impact, and they comply with lead-free soldering and high-temperature reflow requirements. They fully meet the AEC-Q200 standard, making them ideal for automotive and industrial applications. Beam Light
