The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology recently issued the “Lithium Ion Battery Industry Regulatory Criteria†solicitation of opinions, intends to implement access requirements for lithium-ion battery production, strictly controls new lithium-ion battery industry projects that simply increase production capacity and have a low level of technology, and pass regulations on the annual battery capacity of the enterprise. No less than 100 million watt-hours and other conditions, to avoid the industry's "scattered, small, chaotic" development trend. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology also requires that enterprises and projects in the lithium-ion battery industry should meet the requirements of national laws and regulations concerning the development and utilization of resources, environmental protection, and energy conservation management, such as basic farmland protection areas, nature reserves, drinking water source protection areas, and ecological function protection areas. Areas where construction of industrial enterprises is prohibited by laws and regulations may not establish lithium-ion battery industry projects, require existing enterprises in the above-mentioned areas to gradually move out, and interpret safety and sanitation access conditions.
