At the time of writing this article, Xiaomi Noise Cancelling Headphones had just been released, and I was eagerly waiting for them to arrive.
Millet 6 is my fourth smartphone. I’ve owned a Windows Phone, an iOS device, a Flyme-powered phone, and finally MIUI. This is my chance to share my experience with each of them.
My first smartphone was the Nokia Lumia 920. Back then, I had just switched from a feature phone, and the Lumia had a very high price tag. For example, during Double 11, while others played games and grabbed red packets, I was stuck with a phone that couldn’t even run Cat Games. I joked about paying extra for WP, but deep down, I was frustrated. Why couldn’t even a simple game work?
Despite its flaws, the Lumia had many strengths. The system ran smoothly, stability was good, the grip was solid (though it weighed 185g), and the display was great. For someone who didn’t play games much, it was still very useful.
I used it for two and a half years, mostly in black, and if the battery hadn’t died, I could still be using it. At the time, there were few accessories available, so I ordered what I thought was an original battery from Taobao. But when I turned it on, it wasn’t the real thing. Soon after, it stopped working, and I had to replace it.

The second phone I owned was the 16GB iPhone 6 Plus. Using it felt like having a "dad" phone. The only downside was the small storage space. Moving from 32GB to 16GB was tough. I wanted something with good performance but not too expensive. Mi 6 had a 400-yuan discount on Double 11, making the 128GB ceramic version worth it. I rushed to grab coupons and waited for the sale.
On the morning of November 11, I placed the order. By evening, the package arrived. I was excited, but I didn’t open the box right away. It took over ten days to start using it and write this review.
1. The design is elegant, almost like a craft. Compared to the standard version, the back cover has less gap, and the dual camera has a gold ring. As a Nikon user, I loved the gold touch.
2. The front screen looks seamless, almost no visible border. Focusing on the fingerprint sensor is the only way to see where the screen ends.
3. The ceramic back cover is colorful and durable. After two weeks, I couldn’t find any scratches.
4. The golden branding gives it a premium feel.
5. The dual camera with a gold ring and bi-color flash looks amazing.
6. It feels comfortable in hand and can be operated with one hand.
7. The ceramic back acts as a mirror, making it easy to clean fingerprints.
8. The system runs smoothly, especially after upgrading to MIUI 9. Some apps load instantly without any loading screen.
9. MIUI has useful features, like auto-bookkeeping on the negative screen. I used to forget to track expenses, but now it helps me stay organized.
10. Battery life is excellent, with fast charging. From 30% to full takes about an hour, and 75% in 30 minutes. No need to worry about running out. The Type-C port is compact.
11. Fingerprint recognition is quick, though it sometimes fails when my hands are wet.
12. Calls work well, with no signal issues.
Of course, the Mi 6 isn’t perfect. Sometimes, images on social media don’t load immediately, and it might be related to data flow. Without a headphone jack, it’s inconvenient to watch videos while charging. Also, Android app quality lags behind iOS, but this doesn’t affect most users.

After switching phones, I needed a new headset. Since the Mi 6 doesn’t have a 3.5mm jack, the included white adapter wasn’t ideal. Initially, I planned to buy a Bluetooth headset, but later I saw Xiaomi released a noise-cancelling model with a Type-C interface. It matched the Mi 6 perfectly, and at 299 yuan, it was within my budget.
I researched the headset and heard it could reduce noise up to 60% of the QC35 level. It uses a Type-C interface, so no separate battery case. Just like regular headphones. I decided to go ahead and buy it.
The Z-Benefit package was opened, and there was no plastic film on the outside. There was a Z-Affordable sticker, and the box was a bit dirty. The drawer box had the headset already taken out, and I was quite anxious. The bottom of the box listed the headphone specs. The headset comes with four different-sized tips, and the default size M fit me better than S. A small white box contained a bag and two rubber rings. After adding the rubber rings, the headset was less likely to fall out, and it also felt heavier.
The noise-reduction box also served as a remote control. The indicator light showed when noise reduction was on. It was small and lightweight, so it didn’t feel burdensome.
After testing, the noise reduction worked well. In a quiet lab, the difference was minimal, but on the street, it made a big difference. Cars sounded like electric vehicles, and engine noise was gone. Pedestrian voices were muffled. After a while, I got used to the silence and turned off the noise reduction to compare. It was surprisingly noisy afterward. In a park, the effect wasn’t as strong on insects, but walking around, the stethoscope effect was clear. In a quiet room, there was almost no noise.
The headset worked well. The earphone, remote control box, and cable felt cold and smooth. It seemed to be made of metal, giving a solid feel. The headset was a bit heavy, but it was still comfortable to wear. It didn’t feel bulky or easy to lose.
In terms of sound quality, I couldn’t tell a big difference. I had never used a high-end headset before, and Apple’s own headphones were good enough. Now, this one was also okay, and I couldn’t tell a significant difference.
The biggest downside was the stethoscope effect. Despite that, the noise reduction at this price was still worth it.
