According to industry insiders, Apple's fifth-generation iPad is expected to carry a more efficient LED backlight component, and will make some modifications to the film-based touch sensor technology.
"A lighter and thinner design may include reducing the size of the LED backlight assembly, which can be achieved by increasing display efficiency and using more efficient LED lights," an analyst said.
Industry insiders generally expect Apple to release a newly designed 9.7-inch iPad that will draw on the aesthetic design elements of the existing iPad mini. At present, there is already a picture of the suspected new iPad being leaked. The picture shows that the display frame is narrower than before, and the size is obviously different from the existing iPad.
It's still too early to guess whether the next-generation iPad will switch to a more efficient IGZO panel. Earlier in 2011, there were rumors that Apple was preparing to switch to LCD technology, but until now, Apple has not applied that display to its products.
