Socionext Inc. ("Soxi Technology" or "Company"), a leader in advanced visual imaging SoC application technology, has successfully developed the third-generation APIX bus series high-performance image display controller product, "SC1701." This cutting-edge solution delivers 4K ultra-high-definition images with deep color processing, ideal for next-generation in-vehicle displays. It also supports high-bandwidth data uplink channels, enabling advanced human-computer interactions such as voice recognition, gesture control, and facial detection, along with touch functionality.
The SC1701 utilizes APIX technology for efficient image and video data transmission, offering a more cost-effective and simplified communication solution. It is primarily designed for in-vehicle intelligent systems like car video recording, in-dash display, and 360-degree parking assistance. The product has already been deployed in several production lines. Compared to previous generations, the third-generation APIX bus (APIX3) offers faster transmission speeds, with a downlink capacity of 12 Gbps and an uplink command channel of 387 Mbps. When paired with the SC1701 image display controller, it significantly enhances data transmission performance within vehicles.
In addition to APIX3 input support, the SC1701 provides greater product flexibility through MIPI-DSI2 or OpenLDI interfaces. Its 300bpp graphics processor and dual-channel display interface (supporting 4K or two Full HD channels) improve remote vehicle display performance. The built-in TCON (Timing Controller) ensures reliable and secure content delivery. With VESA DSC compression, the SC1701 can handle up to 9.6 Gbps in an uncompressed state and up to 28 Gbps when compressed, meeting future market demands. The integrated HDCP technology further enhances user experience by supporting high-value content.
Equipped with the SEERIS® image engine, the SC1701 supports 30bpp Deep Color 2D rendering across its entire parallel processing unit, boosting image quality and processing power. To meet automotive safety standards, Soxi Technology has incorporated features like diagnostic functions, multi-region signature units, picture freeze detection, and multi-level CRC checks. These measures ensure robust security and data integrity against unauthorized access.
The SC1701 also introduces a high-performance domain computing architecture for in-vehicle systems, offering superior design flexibility and scalability for secure, high-performance applications. By streamlining development cycles and certification processes, it helps reduce overall system costs. The SC1701 sample is expected to be available in Q3 2018.
